Women’s Tennis Sending Four To NCAA Championships

Tallahassee, FL – The FSU women’s tennis team was named the seventh-overall seed in the NCAA Tournament Monday. On Tuesday, the NCAA announced its singles and doubles championship selections and four Seminoles were included among the group. Giulia Pairone and Emmanuelle Salas were each selected to compete for the singles title while Nandini Das and Andrea Garcia were one of just 32 doubles teams selected to compete for a title.

Pairone, who is currently ranked 11th in the ITA singles rankings, was named a top 16 seed for the singles championships. Last week, she was just the second Seminole ever to be named to the All-ACC First Team since the conference moved to more than one All-ACC team in 2014. She has now been named first team All-SEC (2018), first team All-Big Ten (2019) and first team All-ACC (2021) in her career. The Turin, Italy native has been ranked in the top 10 by the ITA for most of the 2021 season. Pairone has eight of FSU’s 14 ranked wins in singles playing on court one. She has recorded 12 wins in singles and 13 wins in doubles play.

Salas will compete in the NCAA Championships for a singles title for the first time in her career. She is currently ranked 41st by the ITA and she is just the 12th player in program history to earn multiple All-ACC accolades after being named to the All-ACC team in 2019 and 2021. Salas will finish her FSU career having also been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete (2020), a member of the Dean’s List (2020), a Golden Torch winner (2019), a Golden Nole winner (2019) and an All-ACC Academic team selection.

Both Das and Garcia were selected to their first-ever NCAA Championships after storied careers at FSU. Garcia is the all-time wins leader at Florida State. She and Das have posted a 14-4 on the season and they led the team with nine ACC wins in doubles. They are currently ranked 8th in the nation by the ITA.
