Women’s Tennis To Face 4th Ranked Duke At Home

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team is set to host the 4th ranked Blue Devils of Duke Wednesday, April 3rd at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Seminoles are ranked 50th nationally and are 10-11 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Blue Devils are ranked 4th nationally with a 15-3 record. The Blue Devils are currently undefeated (3-0) in the ACC. The Blue Devils are the 13th ranked team the Seminoles have faced this season.

The Seminoles will be looking for their second victory over the Blue Devils since their inaugural match in 1983. The Seminoles have failed to beat Duke in the fifteen matches since that first meeting in the 1983 season. However, a win over Duke this season will pose a challenge for the Seminoles, as the Bule Devils feature five players ranked nationally. In the rankings for Duke are: No. 4 Kelly McCain, No. 18 Julie DeRoo, No. 39 Amanda Johnson, No. 64 Sara Asaru, and No. 143 Ioana Plesu.

The Seminoles also have two players in the national rankings. Sophomore Anca Dumitrescu is ranked 36th, while teammate Alida Gallovits is ranked 114th.

After the midweek match against the Blue Devils, the Seminoles will host their final two matches this weekend against ACC foes Georgia Tech and Clemson.
