Women’s Tennis Wins Three Doubles Championships At Seminole All-Conference Showdown


Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis team had yet another dominating performance on day two of the 2019 Seminole All-Conference Showdown. The Seminoles went undefeated again in doubles play earning them three doubles championships and went 2-3 in singles play.

The Garnet and Gold kicked off day two with the final round of doubles. Junior Emmanuelle Salas and senior Nandini Das got the day started for the Noles winning their final match 6-1 over Yu Chen and Lindsay Song (AUB).   Junior Petra Hule and freshman Sasha Hill went to battle against South Carolina’s Ana Luiza Cruz and Gabriela Martinez Asensi.  The duo came out on top 7-5 adding another doubles championship. Senior Andrea Garcia and freshman Mira Stegmann finished out doubles play the way the Seminoles started, with a dominating performance.  The pair defeated Mary Hunter Hyche and Maggie Pate of Furman 6-0 earning the third doubles championship of the day.

Florida State grabbed the days first singles victory with a big win by Das. She defeated Constanza Gorches of UNF 6-2, 7-6(3) to advance to tomorrows championship match. While Salas fell to Lucia Montano of UNF 6-4, 6-1, Hule continued her impressive performance in the Seminole All-Conference Showdown. Once again, the junior dominated in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Daniela La Fuente (TUL). Garcia battled to a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 super tie break victory over Marta Peris Herrero (MTSU). Stegmann closed out the day dropping 6-2, 6-4 to Maggia Pate of Furman.

Competition will resume tomorrow in Tallahassee, Fla. at Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center at 9 a.m.  Two Noles will be competing in singles championship matches starting with Hule taking on Raquel Amaro of ETSU.  In the second championship match, Das is scheduled to go up against Ana Luiza Cruz of South Carolina.
