Women’s Volleyball Competes In Spring Competition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Six months before their schedule is to begin, the Florida State women’s volleyball team kicked off its spring competition schedule with a tournament in Waco, Texas the weekend of March 23-25. FSU is scheduled to compete in two more tournaments this spring, including one in the friendly confines of Tully Gymnasium.

FSU opened spring competition in Waco, Texas on the campus of Baylor University. The Lady Seminoles faced off against the host Bears in the opening round of the tournament, pulling out the win by a score of 28-30, 30-26, 18-16. In round two, the Garnet and Gold took on the Big Ten Conference’s Iowa Hawkeyes, and fell 22-30, 26-30. The `Noles dropped their third round match against Texas A&M, 25-30, 22-30. Florida State defeated Texas Tech, 30-26, 30-25 in the round robin tournament.

Florida State next hosts a tournament, which will feature Bethune-Cookman, Belmont University and Tampa. The final competition of the spring season will be a tournament hosted by the University of South Florida on April 14.
