TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Redshirt sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois was one of 30 quarterbacks named to the Manning Award Watch List, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl and given annually to the nation’s top quarterback.
A native of Orlando, Francois enters his second season as the Seminoles’ starting quarterback after throwing for 3,350 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2016, helping lead Florida State to a top 10 finish and an Orange Bowl victory over Michigan. Francois was the only freshman quarterback to pass for over 3,000 yards last season and added five rushing touchdowns, the most for an FSU quarterback since 2003.
Francois looks to join Jameis Winston in 2013 as Manning Award winners from Florida State.
The Manning Award will announce 10 finalists on November 30. Since the award includes performances in bowl games, the winner will be announced the week following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
