Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State Seminoles (12-3) will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana this weekend for the LSU Beach Invitational. For the third week in a row, the Seminoles enter the weekend ranked fourth in both the AVCA and collegebeachvolleyball.com polls.
The Noles will compete in a season-high five duals this weekend. Their opponents include Tampa, No. 2 TCU, No. 6 LSU, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Houston Baptist.
Action will start on Saturday, March 26th at 10:00AM ET against Tampa. The Noles have swept Tampa twice this season, 5-0 at the FSU Beach Bash (2/27) and 3-0 at the Stetson Sun-N-Sand Invitational (3/12). Florida State currently leads the series 5-0 all-time against Tampa.
The second match of the day will be a rematch against TCU at 3:00PM ET. TCU earned their first series win 3-2 against the Seminoles at their home courts during the Horned Frog Challenge on March 5, 2022. The Seminoles have a significant 12-1 lead against TCU all-time. TCU is undefeated this the season and swept all their opponents 5-0 last weekend.
The Seminoles will close out Saturday with a match under the lights against host team LSU at 8:00PM ET. Florida State leads the series 13-2 all time against LSU. The Noles beat LSU in Baton Rouge 4-1 during their first of five meetings last season. LSU earned their second dual win against the Seminoles in the NCAA Tournament, ending Florida State’s 2021 season.
Sunday, March 27th will provide some new competition for the Seminoles. They will start the day at 10:00AM ET against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The teams have faced each other only twice before, resulting in two 5-0 sweeps from the Seminoles. Texas A&M CC is coming off a 2-2 weekend with losses to Arizona State and TCU and wins against New Orleans and Stephen F. Austin.
For their final match of the weekend, Florida State will take on Houston Baptist at 2:00PM ET. The Seminoles currently lead the all-time series 5-0. Houston Baptist has only earned one match point against the Seminoles. The teams met once last season, resulting in a 5-0 sweep for FSU.
