Beach Volleyball Earns Three All-Conference Honors Prior to CCSA Championships This Weekend

Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 2 seeded Florida State Seminoles head to the CCSA Championships this weekend with an All-Conference pair and an All-Freshman Team member. Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer are the eighth pair in school history to earn All-Conference and Anna Long is the sixth Seminole to earn a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
Maddie Anderson and Brook Bauer All-Conference
Anderson and Bauer boast a 23-8 overall record on the season and a 7-1 record in conference play with all but one match on court one. The pair’s only conference loss was to TCU on March 26th in Baton Rouge. 16 of their overall wins were against top-20 teams, nine of which were top-10.
The pair earned CCSA Pair of the Week on March 23rd following a 4-0 weekend against No. 1 UCLA, No. 7 Grand Canyon, No. 15 South Carolina, and No. 20 Tulane. They also earned AVCA Pair of the Week on April 11th following a 5-0 weekend against TAMUCC, No. 5 LSU, No. 2 TCU, No. 15 FIU, and No. 19 Stetson.
Anna Long All-Freshman
Anna Long is 15-7 this season and 4-1 in conference as a true freshman from Lakeside Park, Kentucky. Long has competed on courts three, four, and five with partners Jordan Polo and Kate Privett.
Long’s record from this year features 10 top-20 wins. Her only conference loss was to LSU on April 8th at home. Most of her matches were on court four where she has a 10-5 record. Long has proven herself throughout the season, becoming a consistent presence in the starting lineup.
CCSA Championships
The Florida State Seminoles (25-8) will travel to Huntsville, Alabama this weekend to compete for their sixth straight CCSA Conference title since 2016. The conference tournament will consist of all six teams, Florida State, TCU, LSU, Tulane, Missouri State and South Carolina.
Last year, the Seminoles won their fifth consecutive conference title. In the first round, Florida State defeated South Carolina 4-1. Later that day, they also defeated UNCW with a 5-0 sweep. The Seminoles defeated LSU twice to earn the crown once again. The Noles won the first match 4-1 and won the championship 3-2.
The Seminoles earned the two-seed in this year’s conference tournament after going 6-2 in conference play. They are ranked below TCU, whose record was 6-1. Both Florida State and TCU earned a bye for the first match and will play the winners of the first round.
Florida State has faced all but one conference team this season (Missouri State). The Seminoles defeated LSU and South Carolina twice and TCU and Tulane once. The two losses were courtesy of TCU at away and neutral sites. Florida State will take on the winner of No. 3 LSU and No. 6 Missouri State on Thursday, April 28th at 3:00 PM EST.
Conference Opponent History
The Horned Frogs of TCU have been a handful for Florida State this season, going 2-1 against the Seminoles. TCU earned their first ever series win against FSU in Fort Worth with a 3-2 decision. The second win for the Horned Frogs took place in Baton Rouge in favor of TCU 4-1. The Seminoles avenged the two losses with a dominant 4-1 win at home during the Unconquered Invitational. FSU leads the all-time series 13-2.
Florida State has met LSU twice this season, once away and once at home. The Seminoles earned the first win 3-2 against the Tigers in Baton Rouge at the LSU Beach Invite. With some home court advantage, the Seminoles defeated LSU once again, this time 4-1. Florida State leads the all-time series 15-2.
The Seminoles have never lost to the Gamecocks of South Carolina, leading the all-time series 19-0. The Noles took on South Carolina twice this season, featuring a 4-1 win at TCU and a 5-0 sweep in Gulf Shores.
Florida State is also undefeated against Tulane. The teams only met once this season, resulting in a 5-0 win for the Seminoles. FSU leads the all-time series 15-0 and have swept Tulane in all 15 matches.
The final opponent that Florida State may face this weekend is Missouri State. Florida State has yet to compete against Missouri State as the team was established in 2018.
