Beach Volleyball Hosts Final Home Tournament and Senior Day

Tallahassee, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Florida State Seminoles (19-5) are set to host the Unconquered Invitational this weekend at the FSU Beach Courts. Visiting teams include No. 5 LSU, No. 2 TCU, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, No. 19 Stetson, and No. 15 FIU. This weekend will we also honor our alumni and seniors as it is the last competition at home this season.

The Seminoles’ first day will feature three teams that they have already faced this season. The first match will be against Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 11:00 AM. The Seminoles defeated TAMUCC 4-1 two weeks ago at the LSU Beach Invite and lead the all-time series 3-0.

The second half of the day will feature LSU and TCU, both of which are CCSA opponents and ranked in the top-5. The Noles will face LSU first at 2:00 PM. The teams also met at the LSU Beach Invite, resulting in an exciting 3-2 win for the Seminoles. FSU currently leads the all-time series 14-2 over the Tigers.

Florida State will end the first day by celebrating the alumni before taking on TCU at 5:00 PM. TCU has taken the advantage over FSU this season, defeating the Noles twice. The Horned Frogs earned their wins at their host tournament 3-2 and at the LSU Beach Invite 4-1. The Seminoles hold the all-time series lead 12-2 since the first meeting in 2015.

Day two of the Unconquered Invitational will feature two more top-20 ranked teams with FIU and Stetson. The first match will be at 12:30 PM against FIU. This is the only team at the invitational that FSU has not competed against this season. The last time the teams met, the Seminoles lost 3-2 in Tallahassee. Florida State leads the all-time series 11-3 over FIU.

Before the final match of the weekend, the seniors (Madison Fitzpatrick, Alaina Chacon, Cassie Anderson, Brook Bauer, Kate Privett and Jenna Johnson) will be honored. After the senior recognition, the Noles will take on Stetson at 3:30 PM for the second time this season. FSU defeated Stetson 3-2 at their host tournament in March. Stetson has yet to beat the Seminoles in the 17 times that the teams have competed against each other.
