Dominik Olejniczak Officially A Seminole

Dominik Olejniczak, who averaged 5.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 18.3 minutes per game at Ole Miss during the 2018-19 season, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Florida State and play basketball for Head Coach Leonard Hamilton and his staff as a graduate transfer during the 2019-20 season. Olejniczak helped lead the Rebels to the 2019 NCAA Tournament, two victories over nationally ranked teams and a 20-13 record this past season.

Olejniczak (7-0, 260) becomes the third graduate transfer to enter the Seminoles’ program under Hamilton joining guards Jeff Peterson (2012, ACC Championship, NCAA Tournament) and David Nichols (2019, NCAA Tournament Sweet 16) and is immediately eligible to play at Florida State during the 2019-20 season.

Olejniczak (Torun, Poland) averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and blocked 50 shots in his two seasons at Ole Miss (2017-18 and 2018-19) after transferring from Drake where he played as a freshman (2016-17). He averaged 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 20 games as a true freshman during the 2015-16 season. Olejniczak redshirted the 2016-17 season after transferring from Drake to Ole Miss.

“When I took my visit to Florida State, it felt like the right place to be during my fifth year,” said Olejniczak.   “Once I got to campus everything I thought, and even more, became reality. I’m surrounded by great teammates and a great coaching staff on a daily basis. The approach that coach Hamilton and his staff have to everything, and their knowledge of the game of basketball is mesmerizing. I am lucky to be a Seminole.”

Olejniczak helped lead Ole Miss to the 2019 NCAA Tournament as the Rebels won 20 games (an eight-win improvement from the previous season) and finished with a winning record (10-8) in SEC play. The Rebels eight-game win improvement was the best among Power 5 teams in 2018-19 as compared to the 2017-18 season. During the 2018-19 season, the Rebels gained victories over No. 10 ranked Auburn (who advanced to the NCAA Final Four) and No. 14 Mississippi State (who also played in the 2019 NCAA Tournament). Olejniczak averaged 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in this two victories.

Olejniczak scored in double figures three times as a redshirt junior with his season high of 13 points coming in the Rebels’ victory over Arkansas (January 19) with his season high of seven rebounds coming in wins over Illinois State (December 8) and Auburn (January 9). He shot a team-high .575 from the field and .763 from the free throw line and led Ole Miss with 30 blocked shots.

Olejniczak averaged 4.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.7 blocked shots while shooting .531 from the field as a redshirt sophomore at Ole Miss. He scored his season high of 16 points against Texas (January 27, 2018) and earned a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds against Auburn (January 9, 2018).

Olejniczak averaged 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds as he played in 20 games as a true freshman at Drake University in Iowa. He scored his career high of 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Bulldog’s victory over Loyola (Feb. 27, 2016).

Florida State opens its 2019-20 season with an ACC game at Pitt for the first time in school history.
