TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Eight student-athletes were selected to the 2019 All-ACC Academic Swimming and Diving Teams, which was announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Juniors Cam Thatcher and Griffin Alaniz, sophomore Joshua Davidson along with freshmen Izaak Bastian and Jakub Ksiazek were selected to the men’s list, while junior Molly Carlson and freshmen Ida Hulkko and Nina Kucheran earned the nod to the women’s.
“Our student-athletes understand what it takes to excel in our program,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “We hold our team to high standards in the pool, classroom and community. Our team has grown vastly in all three areas and I am very proud of them for putting in the work in and out of the pool this season.”
Carlson captured her third-straight nod to list of 50 student-athletes, while Thatcher, Alaniz and Davidson earned their second.
“I am super proud of these guys,” FSU head diving coach John Proctor said. “All of our divers have always been strong academically. It’s great to see some of them recognized.”
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
Out of the pool, the women’s swimming and diving team earned its sixth-straight CSCAA Academic All-America status in January. The Seminoles were also awarded the Director’s Cup for Service, for logging the most community service hours for the 2018-19 season.
