Four Noles Earn ACC Weekly Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that four Florida State track and field athletes have been named ACC Performers of the Week after their standout performances at last weekend’s Bob Pollock Invitational. Don’drea Swint and Jayla Kirkland have both been named ACC Track Performers of the Week. For the second time this year, Isaac Grimes and Ruta Lasmane both earn ACC Men’s Field Performer and Women’s Co-Field Performer.

“Obviously you can’t do better than four for four, so I’m really happy for our athletes,” said Florida State head coach Bob Braman. “This is a great honor for our program.”

Swint and Kirkland both earn their honors after winning the male and female 60m Dash at last weekend’s Bob Pollock Invitational. Swint ran a personal best time of 6.63 which puts him second in the ACC and fourth in the Nation. While Kirkland ran a blazing 7.25 over the distance which is a time that ranks her first in the ACC and number four in the nation.

Grimes earns his second ACC honor this year after winning the long jump in a facility record breaking jump of 8.18 meters. This personal record distance ranks him number one in the nation and puts him second on the FSU all-time list.

Lasmane shares the field weekly honor with Louisville’s Makenli Forrest. In only her second outing as a Nole, Lasmane jumped a massive PR in the triple jump at the Bob Pollock Invitational to take the win with a distance of 13.79m. This distance not only ranks her number 2 on the FSU all-time list, but it also ranks her third in the nation. In addition to her triple jump win she also jumped yet another PR in long jump of 6.14 meters, a distance that also ranks her 21st nationally.

Swint, Kirkland, Grimes, and Lasmane will be step back on the track with the rest of the Florida State track and field squad on February 12th to compete at the Tyson Invite hosted by Arkansas.
