  • Induction:
    1993
Al Makowiecki was a tough, rugged athlete from the Tom Nugent-era of Seminole football.

Playing both offensive and defensive tackle during the 1953-54 seasons, Makowiecki crowned a great career when he was named captain of the 8-4 Seminoles in their 1954 Sun Bowl appearance.  Teammates Vic Prinzi and Burt Reynolds gave “Big Al” much of the credit for making defensive debris of would-be tacklers.

Makowiecki earned All-State and All-American honors in 1954.

After serving two years in the Army following graduation, he played three years in the Canadian Football League.  He was inducted into the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.
