Jimmy Oler
  • Induction:
    1979
From 1952 through 1956, Jimmy Oler wrote basketball records some of which have lasted into the 22nd century. Over his 91 games at FSU, Oler scored 1,820 points to become the school’s all-time leader, a mark that lasted 28 years until Bob Sura overtook him. In the 1955-56 campaign, Oler scored 742 points, still the best single-season in Seminole basketball annals. That same year Oler averaged 29.7 points a game, a mark no Seminole since has approached. He also captained FSU as a senior. As FSU sports moved into the 2000’s, Oler still held or shared five offensive records including the record for single-game free throws made (22) and attempted (30). His 42 points in a game in 1952-53 was FSU’s fourth best single game performance entering the new millennium.
