Ron Harris starred on the Florida State basketball court from 1969 through the Final Four run of 1972. His brilliant defense and exceptional foul shooting earned him a starting spot as a sophomore and junior. He moved to the sixth man role on FSU’s 1971-72 team that made it all the way to the national title game. During the NCAA tournament, his play against Minnesota was the difference while his inspired second half against UCLA almost pulled the Seminoles to an upset victory in the championship game. Harris is perhaps FSU’s greatest defensive players as captain of the ’72 team he was one of the university’s finest team leaders. While at Florida State, Harris was a brilliant student who went on to medical school.
