TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State linebacker Dontavious Jackson is on the watch list for the Butkus Award, it was announced Monday.
Jackson recorded 75 tackles, including 7.0 for loss with 1.0 sack, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one interception and one quarterback hurry while appearing in all 12 games with 10 starts last season. The Alief, Texas, native became the first Seminole since 2001 with multiple 14-tackle games after he recorded a career-high 14 stops, including a career-best 2.0 for loss, at Syracuse and then tied that tackles total vs. No. 22 Boston College. He grabbed his first career interception and made 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops, at No. 3 Notre Dame. Following the season, Jackson was presented the team’s Monk Bonasorte Award.
The Butkus Award is presented by the Bukus Foundation, which will announce semifinalists on Nov. 4, finalists on Nov. 25 and the winner no later than Dec. 10.
