In just two seasons as Florida State’s shortstop (1983, 84), Jody Reed established himself as one of the school’s finest overall baseball players and was a part of a school record 88 double plays turned his senior season. Reed was the Metro Conference Most Valuable Player in 1984 and was an All-South Regional selection in 1983. He led FSU in runs scored (97), doubles (23), walks (68) and stolen bases (31) in 1983. Drafted twice before he ever came to FSU, Reed first made the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed a 15-year major league career.
