Kjettrup Finishes Third at Watersound Invitational

WATERSOUND, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Sophomore Frederik Kjettrup of Florida State Men’s Golf finished a strong showing at the Watersound Invitational on Tuesday, shooting 5-under overall to place third at the competitive tournament held at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course.
It is Kjettrup’s second Top 3 finish in his last three tournaments played, as he tied for second at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate held Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
Kjettrup, who has emerged as a Top 100 golfer according to Golfstat at No. 82, shot even par in his final round. He added three birdies on Tuesday, and used a 35 on his first nine holes on the back nine combined with a 37 that he added on the front.
Throughout the tournament, Kjettrup capitalized on Shark Tooth’s par 4 holes, finishing sixth among all participants at 2-under in par 4 scoring. He finished with 12 birdies over his three rounds of golf.
Florida State finished 10th of the 14 schools competing, recording a 4-over 292 in the final round. FSU shot 9-over (297-284-292) at the Watersound Invitational.
No. 17 Georgia Tech took home the title by finishing at 15-under (285-277-287), followed by Alabama (-10), Notre Dame (-6), Virginia Tech (-2) and Clemson (even) in the Top 5.
Senior Michael Sakane tied for 23rd at 1-over, carding a final round of 73. Sakane led the Seminoles with 13 birdies total. He tied for the second lowest score on par 3 holes, shooting 1-under.
Dan Bradbury tied for 44th at 7-over, while Brett Roberts tied for 56th at 10-over. Calvin Sierota placed 60th at 11-over.
FSU returns with the Cabo Collegiate Invitational hosted by Arkansas held Feb. 27-March 1 at the Cabo Del Sol Ocean Course in Cabo San Lucas.
