M. Basketball falls to Boston College, 75-69

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Quentin Post scored a team-high 21 points on seven made field goals and grabbed six rebounds to lead Boston College to a 75-69 victory over Florida State in the Donald L Tucker Center. Post led three Eagles in double figure scoring — Devin McGlockton (16 points) and Prince Aligbe (10 points). 

Florida State’s Caleb Mills tied his career with 27 points on five of 14 shooting and made 17 free throws. Mills’ 17 free throws set a Florida State record for free throws made in an ACC game and are tied for the fourth most in a game in Seminole basketball history.  Mills’ 27 points tied his career-high he achieved against Tulsa in 2020 and in 2022. 

Boston College jumped out to an early 24-11 lead, in large part to Post’s 12 points. Post started the game 5-5 from the 3-poisnt line as the Eagles shot 80 percent from the 3-point range in the opening 16:30 of the game. The Eagles finished the first half shooting .615 percent from 3-point range.  

The first half concluded with the Seminoles trailing 38-27, after an 8-0 run by the Seminole cut into the Eagles lead. Mills led the Seminoles with 16 points in the first half on four of eight shooting.  He was also perfect from the charity stripe in the first half (eight of eight). 

Florida State threatened to take over the game in the second half as they whittled the Eagles lead down to four – first at the 7:01 mark on two Mils’ free throws. Then with 46 seconds remaining in the games on two free throws made by Mills after he was fouled shooting a 3-point shot. 

Boston College outscored the Seminoles by an 11-9 margin in the final minute of the game. 

The Seminoles outscored the Eagles in the second half, 42-37. 

Mills led three Seminoles in double-digit scoring — Darin Green Jr. (13 points) and Chandler Jackson (10 points). 

Florida State finished the game with 15 steals and 29 rebounds. The Seminoles shot .882 percent from the free-throw line. 

Florida State resumes ACC play when they travel to Watsco Center to play Miami on Saturday, February 25th with tip off at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
