Men’s Basketball Plays Host To Florida On Friday At 8:00 P.M.

TALLAHASSE, Fla. — Florida State, which has won seven of its last eight games against Florida, plays host to the Gators in Friday at 8 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center.  The Seminoles have won four consecutive home game against the Gators including an 83-71 victory on December 12, 2021.  The Seminoles current run of prosperity against the rival Gators with seven wins in the last eight games is the best run (a winning percentage of .875) in the series that began during the 1951-52 season.  Following Friday’s game against the Gators, the Seminoles close out the season-long three-game home stand with the Mercer Bears coming to Tallahassee for a Monday game beginning at 6:30 and airing on the ACC Network.

FLORIDA STATE VS. FLORIDA – CONNECTIONS
Florida State plays host to Florida on November 18 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.  The Seminoles have won seven of their last eight games against Florida including a school-record four straight against the Gators in Tallahassee.  The Seminoles will face first-year Gator Head Coach Todd Golden for the first time as Golden took over the Gator program during the spring of 2022.  Carlin Hartman, the first-year Associate Head Coach at Florida, played against Florida State twice during his career at Tulane – he was 1-1 against the Seminoles as a player and 0-1 as an assistant coach.  Hartman led Tulane with 10 points and five assists in a 77-61 win over Florida State in New Orleans and totaled 10 points and three rebounds in an 85-79 Seminole win at the Donald L. Tucker Center on February 2, 1991.  He was also an assistant at Rice when the Seminoles took a 79-54 win on November 29, 1996.  Associate Head Coach Korey McCray got his start in the college coaching ranks at Florida State as a graduate assistant under Leonard Hamilton. He earned a master’s degree in adult education with a minor in higher education at FSU in 2004.  Director of Player Development Tauren Green, who played for the Gators from 2004-07, was 2-2 against Florida State during his career.  Player development assistant Jordan Talley has Tallahassee ties as he helped Tallahassee Community College to a Panhandle Conference championship, and the team sent 10 players to Division I including the No. 1 player in junior college.

LOOK FOR FLORIDA STATE TO…
…Defeat Florida and gain its fifth consecutive home victory against the Gators.  Since a 70-66 win over the Gators at the Tucker Center on December 3, 2006, the Seminoles are 6-2 at home against their cross-state rivals;
…Defeat Florida and win their 89th game in their last 99 games played at the Donald L. Tucker Center.  The Seminoles’ current steak at home began with a 77-56 win over No. 23 Notre Dame on Feb. 27, 2016.

DARIN GREEN IN LAST TWO GAMES…
…Is averaging 20.5 points scored per game (41 total points), is shooting .560 from the field (14 of 25), is shooting .607 from the 3-point line (10 of 15) and is shooting .750 from the free throw line (three of four).
…He scored his Florida State career-high of 24 points in the Seminoles’ game against Troy and totaled 17 in his return to his former school, UCF, on November 11.

WHERE GREEN’S SEVEN 3-POINT FIELD GOALS AGAINST TROY RANKS IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Darin Green, Jr. tied his career-high with seven 3-point field goals made in the Seminoles’ game against Troy on Monday night – a total that is now tied for the fifth highest single game total in school history.  His seven 3-point field goals tied his personal record and made the first-year Seminole the first Seminole to make seven 3-point field goals in a game since Devin Vassell made seven in a Florida State victory at Virginia Tech on February 1, 2020.  Green’s seven 3-point field goals made marks the eighth time in school history a Florida State player has made seven or more 3-point shots in a game at the Tucker Center.  The Seminoles’ all-time record for 3-point shots made at home is eight by Deividas Dulkys in scoring 32 points against North Carolina on January 14, 2012.
