Men’s Tennis Adds Another World Class Signee To Fifth-Best Recruiting Class

Tallahassee, FL – Earlier this week the Tennis Recruiting Network released its Top 25 rankings for winter 2021 recruiting and named Florida State’s class the fifth-best in the nation and tops in the ACC. The Seminoles added another top-ranked signee to that class today by inking Joshua Dous Karpenschif, the 48th-ranked junior in the world.
Dous Karpenschif, from Lyon, France, is one of the highest-rated players from Europe to sign with a collegiate program this year. The left-hander is currently ranked -15 in France and chose to play at Florida State over numerous Top 10 programs.
“There are lot of reasons I chose FSU,” said Dous Karpenschif. “The first one and the most important is the fact that our personalities really fit. Then, I love Florida and I couldn’t find a better place than Tallahassee. Also, FSU is well known to be an amazing university and the program there is awesome. It looks like the team-spirit is fabulous and everyone is here for each other and that’s what I love.”
With the signing of Dous Karpenschif, the Seminoles add to a class that already features two junior players ranked in the Top 5 in their country and among the Top 150 juniors in the world. Alex Bulte is ranked the No. 1 junior player in Australia and Youcef Rihane ranks as the No. 4 junior tennis player in Africa.
“Joshua is a great fit for our program,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “He is Top 50 in the World Junior Rankings and an excellent student with high ambition to play pro tennis. He has excelled at junior and international tournaments.
“Adding to Youcef and Alex we have a class that may be ranked tops in the country. I want to thank all the people who worked hard to put together this class; FSU coaches video, assistant coaches, players and athletic department staff. We can’t wait to have Joshua on campus next fall.”
The Seminoles will return to action when they host No. 9 Florida at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center Sunday, January 31. The game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start and fan attendance will be limited to 232 spectators as the teams will utilize both sides of the facility to accommodate more spectators.
