Hall of Fame Class: 1987 (Coaches and Administration)

When he retired as assistant football coach in June, 1986, Bob Harbison took with him a huge chunk of FSU athletic history. He had coached football at Florida State for 37 of the school’s 39 years on the gridiron. Harbie was also the first Seminole golf coach. A former Indiana Hoosier lineman, he joined Don Veller’s staff in 1948 and spent most of his career coaching offensive and defensive linemen. His most famous unit was the 1964 defensive front nicknamed the “Seven Magnificents”. Harbie was renowned as a scout and as a precise teacher of the technique of line play.
