Jim Lyttle came to FSU in 1965 and was the consummate two-sport star. He was the starting point guard on the basketball team and earned Sporting News first team All-America status in baseball in 1966. He hit 13 home runs, totaled 51 RBI and had 131 stolen bases that same year to set school marks that lasted years after his playing career. He was also a fine defensive outfielder known for his rifle of an arm. He signed a professional baseball contract with the Yankees in 1966. His major league career spanned a decade with the Yankees, White Sox and Expos.
