Hall of Fame Class: 1992 (Men's Basketball)

Standing just 5’7? tall, Otto Petty looms large in Florida State basketball history as the point guard on FSU’s 1972 National Championship runner-up team. Petty not only brought the Seminoles his great ball-handling wizardry, he also contributed his charismatic spark on the basketball court. A three-year letterman at FSU, Petty totaled a school record 602 assists, including a then school record 227 assists during the 1970-71 season alone. He also held the school record for assists in a game, handing out 16 against South Alabama in 1972. Not to be forgotten in that season was Florida State’s march through the NCAA Tournament – a string of wins over Minnesota, Kentucky, and eventually North Carolina in the Final Four.
