Hall of Fame Class: 1982 (Men's Basketball)

Paul “Ham” Wernke scored 1,409 points from 1951-55 for the Seminole basketball team, helping turn around a program that was 5-20 his first year and finished 22-4 his senior season. Wernke averaged 19.3 points per game over his FSU career including a career high 21.3 average in the 1952-53 season. His name still figures prominently in FSU record books where he was first in field goals attempted, seventh in total points and fourth in scoring average when the calendar turned to the year 2000. Wernke also poured in the fourth highest single-game total points, 38 vs. Tampa in his sophomore year.
