Knaff and Arcila Advance on Day One of Fall Championships

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Florida State men’s tennis junior Alex Knaff and sophomore Sebastian Arcila advanced to the second round of the doubles main draw at the Oracle ITA Fall Championships after a straight-set win over Toby Boyer and Micah Klousia of Nebraska.

In the first set, the Noles and Huskers swapped points until it was tied 4-4. At 2-2 Florida State was down 40-15 while serving before coming back to take the point to hold on serve and make it 3-2. Knaff and Arcila held serve at 4-4 for the Garnet and Gold to make it 5-4. Florida State finally broke Nebraska on a crucial deuce point to take the first set 6-4.

The Seminoles took the momentum into set two jumping out to an early 2-1 lead before breaking Nebraska to improve their lead to 3-1. Knaff and Arcila caught fire as they won five straight games to take the second set 6-1 and the match.

Knaff and Aricla will be taking on Brian Berdusco/Johannes Ingildsen of Florida tomorrow in the round of 16.
