Basketball Hosts Clemson Tuesday At 7

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) — No. 23 Florida State, which has won four of its last five games against Clemson, plays host to the Tigers on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles have won three consecutive games against the Tigers in games played in Tallahassee including an 81-79 win in overtime on Feb. 14, 2018 – the last time the teams met in the Capital City of the State of Florida. The Seminoles have won 22 of 31 games played between the two teams in games played in Tallahassee four of the last five and five of the last seven. Florida State’s game against Clemson is a lone home game sandwiched between its game at Boston College (January 20) and its game at Miami (January 27). The Seminoles will play at Clemson in the back half of its annual home-and-home series against the Tigers on February 19, 2019. Including its game against Clemson, Florida State has seven ACC games remaining to be played at home in the Donald L. Tucker Center. Following Tuesday’s game against Clemson, the Seminoles will travel to play at Miami on Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m. to close out their two-game regular season series against the Hurricanes.
COACHES VS. CANCER WEEK
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) celebrates the 26th anniversary of its partnership with the American Cancer Society as the college basketball fraternity will participate in the annual Suits and Sneakers week, Jan, 21-27. Coaches and administrators will wear sneakers with special laces, in memory of Lacey Holsworth, an 8-year old basketball fan who died of the dreaded disease. The coaches and administrators will wear sneakers and specially designed ties that will be auctioned off to help fight the disease. The American Cancer Society will receive 85 percent of the proceeds from the campaign and Princess Lacey’s Legacy will receive 15 percent of the monies raised during the week-long campaign. FLORIDA STATE IS VERY SUCCESSFUL AT HOME
No. 23 Florida State, which has won 39 of its last 42 games (.929 winning percentage) at home since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, will look to up its home record to 9-1 when it plays host to Clemson on Tuesday. The Seminoles enter Tuesday’s game against the Tigers having won more than 92 percent of their overall games (39-3) and 85 percent of their ACC games (19-3) at home since the tail end of the 2015-16 season. Included in that record is a 2-0 record over the Tigers.
KABENGELE’S EMERGES AS THE ACC’S MOST DANGEROUS SIXTH MAN
Redshirt sophomore Mfiondu Kabengele, who scored his career-high of 26 points in Florida State’s game at Boston College on Sunday, enters Tuesday’s game averaging 14.6 points in the Seminoles first five ACC games of the. He is the ONLY player in the ACC to lead his team in scoring as a non-starter. Kabengele has played in each of Florida State’s 18 games and averages a career-high 18.6 minutes played per game and has come off of the bench in each of his 18 appearances for the Seminoles this season.
