TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State sophomore Charlotte Heath, who earned All-American Honorable Mention and All-ACC honors in her first season as a Seminole, is one of eight players who have been named to the Great Britain and Ireland team for the 2021 Curtis Cup.  The GB&I team will face the United States team in the 41st Curtis Cup Match at Conway, Wales, August 26-28.

Heath, who earned four top-10 finishes in her first season as a Seminole, makes her Curtis Cup debut in 2021.  Following a stellar freshman season as a Seminole, she is enjoying a very successful summer season in Europe.  She finished fourth at the 2021 Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship and was a member of the victorious teams from England at the 2021 European Ladies’ Team Championship and 2021 Home Internationals.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of this team, it is a real honor,” said Heath following the announcement of the team.  “I’ve played in a few team events and had a lot of training camps with this team.  They’re all so much fun to be around and I’m looking forward to spending a week with my teammates.”

Heath helped lead the Seminoles to a ninth place finish in the 2021 NCAA Championship Finals, a runner-up finish in the 2021 ACC Championship and to three team titles (at the Florida State Match Up, the Pinetree Collegiate and the Louisville Regional Championship) during her first season as a Seminole.  She tied the school record with a single round score of 65 in the first round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational on March 13, 2021.  Heath enters her sophomore season with the fourth-best career stroke average in school history at 72.58.

Heath (Bailiff Bridge, England) is one of six current U.S. collegiate players named to the eight-person squad that will look to win the Curtis Cup for the third time since 2012.  A rising sophomore at Florida State, Heath is joined by U.S. collegiate players Hannah Darling (South Carolina), Annabell Fuller (Florida), Caley McGinty (Oklahoma State), Lauren Walsh (Wake Forest) and Annabel Wilson (UCLA) on the GB&I squad.

“We are super-excited for Charlotte to be named to the Curtis Cup team,” said Seminole Head Coach Amy Bond.  “She has worked extremely hard in the last year to make this team.  This is a wonderful opportunity; an opportunity that we know she will take full advantage of as she continues her growth as a player.”

The United States leads the overall Curtis Cup series (which began in 1932) by a 29-8-3 margin.  The U.S. is the defending tournament champions, having won the title in 2018.  The side from the GB&I most recently won the title in 2016.

Heath is just the second Seminole to play as a member of the GB&I team in the Curtis Cup.  Karen Stupples was a member of the championship team in 1996 and the runner-up team in 1998.
