Wildschutt and Ryan Garner ACC Performer of the Week Awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Adriaan Wildschutt and Lauren Ryan each earned ACC Performer of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon. Ryan was the outright winner of the award while Wildschutt shared this week’s honors with Yared Nuguse of Notre Dame. Ryan and Wildschutt became the sixth and seventh Noles to earn ACC Performer of the Week honors this season.
“What Adriaan and Lauren did this weekend was truly remarkable, and they are both deserving of this award,” Head Coach Bob Braman said.

This is Ryan’s second time being named ACC Performer of the Week after winning the award on Feb. 1. Ryan had a record-breaking weekend at the David Hemery Valentine Invite, as she broke the school record and the ACC record in the 3000m run. Ryan ran an 8:47.88 which is the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history and is just six seconds off of the collegiate record. Ryan also reached the Australian standard to qualify for the World Indoor Championship.
Wildschutt continued make his mark in the record books, as he broke the FSU, ACC and South African record in the 5000m run at the David Hemery Valentine Invite. Wildschutt’s time of 13:09.30 was the second-fastest time in NCAA history, as he finished ahead several Olympians and professionals at Saturday’s meet. Both Ryan and Wildschutt hold the top times in the country in their respective events.
Schedule Update
The Florida State track and field team will head to Columbia, S.C., on Friday for the University of South Carolina Indoor Open. The Noles will send three jumpers, Alonie Sutton, Jeremiah Davis and Jacore Irving. The Noles will also send a group of men’s sprinters to the Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., on Saturday.
