TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida State Women's Basketball sophomore guard Ta'Niya has been named to the 2023-24 Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 List, announced on Tuesday on ESPN's SportsCenter and in conjunction with the Wooden Award's preseason poll of national college basketball experts.

The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.

The list represents eight conferences: the Pac-12 leads all conferences with 11 selections, followed by the ACC with ten selections, the Big Ten and SEC with nine each, the Big 12 with six, the Big East with three and the Ivy League and MAC with one selection apiece.

The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2024 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Principal. Players not chosen to the preseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award™ midseason list, late season list, and the National Ballot.

The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Nearly 1,000 voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games.

The Wooden Award All American Team™ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round
of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2024 John R. Wooden Award will be presented in Los
Angeles in April.

Latson was a Wooden Award national ballot selection last season in what was one of the top freshman campaigns in NCAA Women's Basketball history. Making her season debut vs. No. 11 Tennessee last Thursday, Latson recorded 20 points in a big 92-91 win for the Seminoles – her 19th 20-point game in 32 career games played as a Seminole.

The Miami, Fla., native will lead the No. 12 Seminoles into Gainesville this Friday as they prepare for rival Florida at 4 p.m. on SEC Network+. FSU follows with its Seminole Heritage Game taking place on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. against South Alabama at the Tucker Center.
