TALLAHASSE - The Florida State University Track and Field team concluded the first day of an action-packed weekend.

David Mullarkey set a new school record in the 3,000 meter run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday in Boston, Massachusetts, establishing a new personal best at 7:42.89. Mullarkey erased the time that was set by Ahmed Muhamed that was set in 2022 at 7:51.15. He now leads the ACC and is ranked fourth nationally.

Martin Prodanov made a statement in his FSU debut, where he turned in the fifth-fastest mile time in men's school history at 3:59.98. Among the nation's top distance runners, Prodanov placed 20th. His time currently sits first in the ACC.

Emily Brown, Ava Klein, Suus Altorf and Bieke Schipperen finished in first place in the women's distance medley relay, establishing a time at 11:22.41.

"Mullarkey smashed the school record by nearly eight seconds and surely punched his ticket to Nationals," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "Martin had a great opener in the mile. He's in great position to challenge for the ACC individual title and hopefully good enough for an NCAA qualifying time."

Women's track and field athlete Dajaz DeFrand led the Noles at the Lenny Lyles Invitational with a victory in the 200-meter-dash, establishing a new personal best and meet record at 23.24  She now leads the ACC, is ranked sixth nationally and is now the fifth-fastest in school history.

Shenese Walker followed DeFrand in fourth, establishing her personal best at 23.93 and is now ranked second in the ACC behind DeFrand.

"It was good to hit the top ACC marks in the 200m today," said sprint coach Matt Kane. "We will be looking for more in the 60-meter-dash and 60-meter-hurdles tomorrow."

Jeremiah Davis made his season debut at the Bob Pollock meet in Clemson, South Carolina, where he finished second in the men's long jump (7.93m). His jump now leads the ACC. Curtis Williams earned a season best (7.59m), finishing fourth and Kyvon Tatham also placed seventh (7.21m).

Both teams will conclude competition on Saturday at all three meets. Live results and streaming services can be found at Seminoles.com.
