Davis, DeFrand Named ACC Performers of the Week

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State track and field student-athletes Jeremiah Davis and Dajaz DeFrand captured ACC Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week on Tuesday.
Davis was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the eighth-ranked Noles, while DeFrand took home the Women's Performer of the Week.
Jeremiah Davis set a Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex facility record on Friday, winning with a season best at 8.20m in the men's long jump at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina. His mark currently leads the ACC, ranks second nationally and in the world.
Davis was also the runner-up in the triple jump, securing a personal best at 16.69m with the third-farthest jump in FSU history. Davis leads the ACC and ranks second nationally.
"Jeremiah Davis exemplifies the spirit of excellence and determination," said assistant coach Leevan Sands. "I remember when I first arrived at FSU and met Jeremiah, I knew he had the mindset of a champion. His dedication to his craft, combined with his relentless work ethic has propelled him to soar to new heights. Winning this week's ACC weekly award is a well-deserved honor."

DeFrand posted two times at the Tiger Paw Invitational that rank in the top 10 nationally. DeFrand placed second in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash with a season best time of 7.18, which ranks seventh nationally.
DeFrand placed fourth in the 200, earning a season best at 22.91, which also ranks seventh in the nation.
"Dajaz put together some solid races this weekend," said associate head coach Matt Kane. "I feel like her times will be good enough to make the NCAA finals, so we are looking forward to great things the rest of the season."
The Seminoles will head to Boston on Feb. 22-24 for the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship.
