TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State outdoor track and field team concluded the first day of the FSU Relays on Thursday.
Cooper Crowell opened the competition for the Noles in the men's hammer, placing second with a new personal best of 54.20m. Ahmari Avin followed Crowell in fifth with a mark of 48.54m.
"Cooper did a great job in the Hammer," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "It was a big lifetime best and close to an ACC qualifying mark. He's improving by leaps and bounds right now and he has a chance to be an ACC scorer by the time the season ends."
Curtis Williams won the long jump with a measurement of 7.56m. Jaiden Rollins followed in third at 7.05m.
"Curtis was jumping really well," added Braman. "He had a couple of big fouls that would've approached his lifetime best, but he got the win, and his jump will easily be an NCAA Regional mark of 6.13m."
Tori Caroll secured fifth in the women's long jump, finishing with a mark of 5.97m. Skyler Reynolds followed Caroll in seventh at 5.83m. Adina Jackson rounded out the event in 14th at 5.49m.
"Really strong jumping for Tori," Braman said. "That's two weeks in a row that she's hit ACC qualifying marks. She's been really consistent and is getting close to the NCAA Region mark of 6.13m. Skyler continues to jump well and will get that ACC mark soon."
The Noles will conclude competition on Friday, starting with the women's 5,000-meter run at 8 a.m. Due to projected inclement weather, all scheduled events have been adjusted for potential lighting delays. Fans can find the updated schedule on Seminoles.com.
