Varjasi, Schulrath Turn in Personal Bests at TYR Pro Series

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State men's swimming and diving team student-athletes Peter Varjasi and Tobias Schulrath were among the top eight finishers at the 2024 TYR Pro Series – San Antonio that ran from April 10-13 at the Northside Swim Center.
Varjasi swam the third-fastest 100 free in prelims, touching at 48.89. In finals, Varjasi swam faster, placing fifth at 48.70 which was his best time. Schulrath posted his personal best in prelims of the 100m fly at 52.40. At night, he clocked 53.36 for eighth.
Both Varjasi and Schulrath will look to represent Team Germany at the Olympics and will have one more shot to qualify at the German National Championships that will run April 25-28.
Jokubas Keblys led the Noles in the 'B' final of the 50 free, touching 12th at 22.47. Schulrath also swam the race in prelims (22.63) finishing ahead of Varjasi (22.66).
Arijus Pavlidi earned a second swim in the 100 back, touching 11th at 55.52.
Marcos Egri-Martin swam the 100 breast (1:03.97) and Gloria Muzito competed in the women's 50 free (26.08) and 100 free (56.48).
Former Seminoles Nina Kucheran and Julio Horrego also swam in championship heats. Kucheran placed seventh in the women's 200 breast (2:32.13) after finishing 15th in the 100 (1:09.91). Horrego touched eighth in the men's 200 breast at 2:15.66 after swimming his personal best in prelims at 2:14.15.
Carlos Vasquez was also in action, clocking 55.61 in the 100 fly and 2:04.82 in the 200 fly.
New Zealand National Championships
Former Seminoles Paige Schendelaar-Kemp and Rebecca Moynihan competed at the New Zealand Swimming Championships at the Hawke's Bay Regional Aquatic Center.
Schendelaar-Kemp placed fourth in the 50m fly (27.44), sixth in the 100m (1:02.86) and was eighth in the 200 (2:31.18). Moynihan placed fifth in the 50 free (25.81) and took ninth in the 100 free (57.00).
Florida Swimming Open Water Championships
Cadence Fort was the overall winner in the women's 5K at the Florida Swimming Open Water Championships that were held in Fort Myers on April 13.
Fort took home the victory with a time of 1:06:02.6.
Danish Open
Incoming freshman Mathias Christensen took home two national titles at the Danish Open that was held in Copenhagen at the Bellahøj Svømmestadion from April 11-14.
Christensen won the 200 breast (2:16.90) and the 200 IM (2:03.29), which was his personal best. Christensen also competed in prelims of the 50 breast (29.83) and 100 fly (55.16).
Following her freshman season, Maysa Ratiu will be in action at the 2024 Romanian National Swimming Championships from April 17-21. She is expected to compete in the 50, 100 and 200 free.
