Seminoles Advance to the ACC Championship Match

CARY, N.C. –The No. 17 Florida State men's tennis team upset No. 7 Wake Forest in a 4-3 thriller in the ACC Championship Semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The Seminoles will advance to the ACC Championship Match for the first time since 2005.
The day began with a strong performance in the doubles round as Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif earned their best win of the season over the No. 2 doubles pair in the nation 6-3. Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 frame on Court 2 for their fourth straight victory while Court 3 was left unfinished at 5-3.
Florida State continued its great start, winning all six first sets in the singles round. Alex Bulte had one of his most dominant performances at Court 6 as he dropped just two games the entire match to take his first singles win of the tournament.
Cornut-Chauvinc was in a fierce battle on Court 1 as he pulled away in the first set 7-5 and found the decisive point at 6-4 to put the Noles up three. He earned his 16th win, moved to 22-2 on the season, and avenged one of his two losses from earlier in the season.
Wake Forest tied the match with wins on Courts 2, 4, and 5 with the attention turned to Court 3. Jamie Connel swapped games back-and-forth with his opponent and was down 4-3. He stepped up in the biggest moment of the season and won three straight games to win the match and send the Seminoles to the ACC Championship.
Florida State reaches the ACC Men's Tennis Championship Match and will face No. 1 seed Virginia on Sunday at 10 a.m. The match will be streaming on ACC Network Extra with live court-by-court coverage and stats will be available on Seminoles.com
