Abramowicz Captures Silver at Canadian Trials

TALLAHASSEE –   Three athletes with ties to the Florida State swimming and diving teams competed at the Canadian Olympic Trials last week.  
 
Tazman Abramowicz won the silver medal at the Canadian Diving Trials and Summer Senior Championships in Windsor, Ontario, while David Quire and Nina Kucheran earned second swims at the Bell Olympic and Paralympic Trials in Toronto.
 
Abramowicz, who spent his fifth season at FSU from 2022-23, claimed silver on 1-meter with a total of 537.78.  The Calgary native also placed fifth on 3-meter, scoring 565.60.
 
Prior to trials, Abramowicz represented Canada at the 2024 American Cup in Indianapolis, where he finished eighth on 3-meter (374.35) and fourth in 3-meter synchro (347.91).
 
In swimming, 2024-25 team captain Quirie competed in the 100 and 200 free, earning second swims in both races. In the 100, Quirie placed 16th at 50.87 and added a 17th-place finish in the 200 at 1:53.25.
 
Kucheran (2018-2022), ended her swimming career by earning a championship final spot in the women's 100 breast, where she placed 10th at 1:09.96. She won the consolation heat of the 200 breast, clocking 2:32.35.
 
French Diving Open
Katrina Young (2010-15), represented Team USA at the French Diving Open, which took place at the site of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris from May 8-10.
 
Young teamed up with Nike Agunbiade for silver in 10-meter synchro, scoring 273.48.  Young was also fourth in the individual event.

Several Seminoles are looking to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials (June 15-23) at the Speedo Sectionals in Ocala, Florida that will run May 24-26 at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training facility.
 
Molly Carlson will begin her third season as a permanent diver on the Red Bull Cliff Diving circuit on May 25-26 in Athens, Greece.
