Davis Wins NCAA Silver

EUGENE, Ore. - The 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships opened on Wednesday at Hayward Field with Florida State student-athlete Jeremiah Davis winning silver in the men's long jump.

Davis secured his second career NCAA runner-up finish in the event with a season best of 8.07m (26-5¾), capturing his third consecutive outdoor first-team All-American honors.

"I'm really proud of Jeremiah," said FSU track and field head coach Bob Braman. "He's been dominating the field and was runner-up at Hayward two years ago as well. "I'm hoping the jumping gods shine on him in his final collegiate jump competition on Friday. He's a true warrior."

In addition to Davis, Jordan Turner placed 16th with a mark of 7.52m (24-8¼). Curtis Williams rounded out the event, placing 21st with a mark of 7.33m (24-¾).

Tyson Williams concluded his season in the 110-meter hurdles, placing 17th with a time of 13.66.

"Really strong race for Tyson," added Braman. "He nearly missed second team All-American by two one-thousandths of a second."

The men's team currently stands in fifth place with eight points.

The 20th ranked women's team will begin competition on Thursday, starting with the women's 1,500 meter at 5:30 p.m.
