Ryan, Hall Selected to Team Australia

TALLAHASSEE – Former Seminoles Lauren Ryan and Linden Hall qualified to represent Australia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. 

Ryan qualified in the 10,000-meters after breaking the 21-year-old national record with a time of 30:35.66 at The Ten in San Juan Capistrano, California in March. She broke the record set by Benita Willis in 2003 of 30:37.68. 

She also qualified in the 5,000 after placing second at the Australian National Championship in April. 

  

Ryan represented her country at the 2023 World Championships, placing 34th in the 5,000 with a time of 15:40.23 

  

During her time at Florida State (2019-22), Ryan won two All-American honors and was named All-South Region in cross country. She holds the indoor 5,000 program record (15:40.40) and outdoor 5,000 (15:30.00). Ryan shattered the school record in the 3,000- at 8:47.88, which is also the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history. 

  

Hall who was selected for a third Olympics, will compete in the 1,500 after competing at the Indoor Athletic Championships. 

  

She competed for Australia in 2018 at the Commonwealth games, placing fourth in the 1,500. Hall claimed the national records in the 1,500-meter (4:00.86) and the mile (4:21.40.) Hall appeared at the 2020 Olympic games, placing sixth in the women's 1,500 final. 

  

Hall competed for Florida State from (2012-15), collecting three consecutive All-American honors before turning pro in 2016. 

  

She helped the Noles take home the 2014 ACC team indoor title after claiming silver in the mile, before capturing the outdoor team title. 

  

Ryan and Hall are the 59th and 60th Seminoles with ties to FSU track and field to compete in the Olympics. FSU has had a representative in every Games since 1972.  Five Seminoles will be in Paris, including Jeremiah Davis (USA), Adriaan Wildschutt (South Africa) and Kimberly Williams (Jamaica). 

  

The track and field events will run from August 1-11 at State De France.
