Alier Maluk Signs With Florida State Men's Basketball

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State Head Coach Leonard Hamilton has announced the signing of Alier Maluk (7-0, 218, Baldwin, Pa.) to a Grant in Aid to play basketball at Florida State.

Maluk is a very talented and versatile player who can defend multiple positions and who has great athleticism and is an elite rim protector. He is a dominant inside force who has the has the ability to stretch the floor as he continues to become a strong outside shooter. Maluk is at his best in the open floor, where he can use his length and athleticism to finish in traffic.

"We are extremely excited that Alier has chosen to become a Seminole," said Hamilton. "His playing style fits in perfectly with how we play, and his personality fits in perfectly with the players on our team. Alier runs the floor well, has long strides that allow him to get in front of both opposing offensive and defensive efforts, and he plays well at the rim. He's tough to stop at the rim on both offense and defense."

Maluk (Long Island (N.Y.) Lutheran) participated in the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team minicamp in 2022 and was a standout player at the 2023 Pangos All-American Camp. He was a top-25 national prospect throughout his high school career, was ranked 41st nationally on the 247Sports composite ranking board, and as the second best player in the state of New York.

"I chose Florida State because I love the culture within the program and the history the coaching staff has of preparing guys to play at the next level," said Maluk. "Coach Hamilton and his staff help their players to reach their goals. I want to be the next Seminole to achieve my goals under this staff."

Maluk, who is a cousin of Bol Bol who plays for the Phoenix Suns chose Florida State over Maryland, LSU, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh. He received his first scholarship offer while he was in the eighth grade.

"Florida State is the best school for my son and the coaching staff is the best staff in the country for my son," said Alier's dad, Pach Alier. "Coach Hamilton is an established coach, so I know Alier is in good hands. I have no doubt that it is the best school and program for Alier. Alier is my first child and to see my child prosper will make me happy. I'm happy Alier is doing well and I want him to succeed in his life."
