Jesse Jones Earns 2024 Golden Torch For Men's Basketball

TALLAHASSEE – Senior Jesse Jones has been honored with the 2024 Golden Torch Award for the Men's Basketball team, recognizing his impressive academic achievements and high GPA. He is a talented player and great teammate who excels academically.
Jones has earned several academic awards, including being named to the 2023 FSU Academic President's List (fall semester), the 2024 FSU Academic Dean's List (spring semester), 2024 ACC Academic Honor Roll, and 2024 NABC Academic Honors Court.
"My career aspirations have always included academic success," said Jones. "Achieving success in the classroom has always been important to my family. My father, who was a star pole vaulter at Florida State, along with my sister, Jazleana, are both proud Florida State University graduates. My mother graduated from Southeastern University. Because both of my parents are teachers, academic success in mandatory in my family."
As he enters his senior year, this marks his second season on the basketball team. Jones is not only a talented player and great teammate but also excels academically, proving himself to be a standout student-athlete.
As a Seminole, Jones has earned several academic awards, and more are expected during his final year. His achievements include the earning FSU Academic President's List (fall 2023 semester) and FSU Academic Dean's List (spring 2024 semester) honors and being named to the 2024 ACC Academic Honor Roll as well as the 2024 NABC Academic Honors Court.
"We are all very proud of Jesse for the pride he takes in his academic success," said Head Coach Leonard Hamilton. "He has already earned his bachelor's degree from Florida State in finance, and is working on his Master's Degree in finance – all while playing a role as an important member of our basketball team. The fierce determination that Jesee shows his teammates to ern success on a daily basis makes him an exemplary student-athlete."
