Latson Wins National Player of the Week; Named to Midseason Wooden Watch List

TALLAHASSEE – After being named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday, Florida State junior guard Ta'Niya Latson was named the Associated Press Player of the Week on Tuesday. Latson was also recognized as one of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Myers Drysdale Players of the Week.
After earning honorable mention in weeks four and five, Latson secured her first career AP Player of the Week nod in Week 9.
The Miami native earned the honor from the USBWA for the second time this season. She was recognized along with Georgia Amoore (Kentucky), Lauren Betts (UCLA), Katie Dinnebier (Drake) and Faith Masonius (Seton Hall).
Latson was also selected for the 2024-25 John R. Wooden Award Midseason Watch List on Tuesday for the third time in her career.
Latson leads the nation in scoring at 27.9 points per game and ranks second in total points (391) as the Seminoles hold the second-highest scoring average (94.9) in the country. She is third in field goals made (142).
Latson has scored at least 20 points in 13 games this season and has 20 career games scoring at least 30 points.
Created in 1976, the Los Angeles Athletic Club John R. Wooden Award Program™ hosts the most prestigious honors in college basketball recognizing The Wooden Award® Most Outstanding Player for men and women, The Wooden Award All America™ Teams for men and women and the annual selection of the Wooden Award® Legend of Coaching recipient. Wooden Award® All Americans have proven to their university that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the John R. Wooden Award® as set forth by Coach Wooden and the Wooden Award® Steering Committee, including making progress towards graduation and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
Previous winners include Larry Bird ('79), Michael Jordan ('84), Tim Duncan ('97), Kevin Durant ('07), Candace Parker ('07; '08), Maya Moore ('09; '11), Breanna Stewart ('15; '16), and the last two year's ('23 &'24) recipients, Caitlin Clark of Iowa and Zach Edey of Purdue.
The Seminoles, who appeared in the USA Today Coaches' Poll at No. 24 on Tuesday, head west to face Stanford on Thursday and California on Sunday.
