Shavers Leads Noles with 19 Points Against Virginia Tech

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's basketball team (4-9, 0-2 ACC) fell to Virginia Tech (10-3, 1-1 ACC) on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center, 79-54.
All eight players contributed points, led by graduate guard Jasmine Shavers, who scored 19, finishing the game converting 3-of-5 from three-point range. She also led the team on the boards with eight, while Allie Kubek, Tatum Greene and Pania Davis contributed seven each.
Virginia Tech jumped in front early in the first, starting on a 7-0 run. FSU found a 5-0 stretch at the end of the quarter, but the Hokies led 26-12 after the first.
The two teams traded baskets for most of the second quarter, as Shavers led the Seminoles with seven points in the frame. Virginia Tech took the 45-28 lead into the locker room.
Out of the break, both teams added 14 points, with Virginia Tech ahead 59-42 heading to the fourth. Shavers added seven more points and grabbed three rebounds.
Virgina Tech outscored the Seminoles 20-14 in the fourth quarter, finishing the game 79-54.
Florida State will be back at home on Saturday, hosting South Carolina State at 2 p.m. for Holiday Hoops. Fans are encouraged to participate in an ugly sweater contest and Santa Cimarron will be available for photos on the concourse.
The game will air on ACC Network Extra and will be broadcast on the Seminole Sport Network.
