Shavers, Davis Net Double-Doubles as FSU Downs SC State, 89-41

TALLAHASSEEÂ - The Florida State women's basketball team (5-9, 0-2 ACC) defeated South Carolina State (3-11) by a final score of 89-41 on Saturday afternoon at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.Â

Every Seminole put points on the board and grabbed one rebound for the third time this season in the victory. Three players scored in double figures, including graduate guard Jasmine Shavers and junior center Pania Davis who contributed a double-double each. The last time two Seminoles managed a double-double in the same game was last season against Clemson on Jan. 16, 2025.

The team shot a strong 41.7 percent from the floor and 82.1 percent from the free-throw line, sinking 23-of-28 attempts. FSU's 61 rebounds bested their previous high of 58 set in the season opener against Florida A&M while their 16 steals topped their previous season-high of 13 set in the same game.
The Seminoles' 18 assists ties their season-best set against Nicholls State on Nov. 12.Â

Shavers put together her best game in the Garnet and Gold and surpassed 1,500 career points with a team-leading and season-best 29 points against the Bulldogs, going a perfect 11-of-11 at the free-throw line, tying a school record. She was also 4-of-6 from three and tallied a career-high 12 rebounds to manage her first double-double in a Seminole uniform and third of her collegiate career. Shavers would account for three steals and one assist in the standout performance.

Davis excelled on both offensive and defensive fronts, earning her second double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-best 16 rebounds. She proved to be a force in nearly every facet of the game, leading the team with four assists and four steals to set new career highs.Â

Junior forward Avery Treadwell set a new career best with 11 rebounds, managing nine in the first half alone. She would end the game with six points and one block.

Shavers provided early momentum in the first quarter, securing a steal and score within the first minute of play to put the Seminoles on the board first. She would total 10 points at the conclusion of the first 10 minutes, sinking two triples and going 2-of-2 at the free-throw line. Treadwell dominated underneath the basket for seven rebounds while seven different Seminoles recorded at least one board. Florida State led 19-10 at the conclusion of the frame.

The offense kept rolling going into the second quarter as several more Seminoles came alive. Davis made herself a constant presence on both ends of the court, picking up two assists and forcing three steals while securing five points for herself. Shavers kept up the pressure with a perfect performance from the floor, going 2-of-2 from three once again and 3-of-3 from the stripe. A block by Tatum Greene closed out the strong first half as Florida State carried a 44-19 lead into the locker room.

Treadwell, Mari Gerton and Sole Williams contributed four points each and three different Noles recorded a block.
