Mandrell Desir Named True Freshman All-American

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State defensive lineman Mandrell Desir has been named to the True Freshman All-American Team by On3, it was announced Monday.
Desir made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2025. The Miami native played all 12 games with two starts and recorded 30 tackles, including 7.5 for loss with 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. His 6.5 sacks ranked ninth in the ACC, most among freshmen, and were third nationally among freshmen. His sacks total also is the third-most for a true freshman in FSU history and most since 2019 first-round NFL Draft pick and two-time Pro Bowl selection Brian Burns' 9.5 in 2016.
Desir, the only freshman defensive lineman to earn All-ACC recognition this season, recorded at least 0.5 sack in six of FSU's final seven games and had a stretch of four consecutive games with 1.0 sack. His 55 sack yards were the third-most in the ACC and second among freshmen nationally.
