Latson Leads No. 23 Noles with 29 Points in Loss to Cardinals

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 23 Florida State women's basketball team (19-6, 9-4 ACC) fell to Louisville (18-7, 11-3 ACC) on Sue Semrau Night at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 69-83.
Ta'Niya Latson was an offensive force, putting up 29 points, including 11 at the free throw line. Latson moved to second place in program history in scoring, passing Shakayla Thomas (1,971). The Miami native now has 1,992 career points looking to become the second Seminole in history to break 2,000.
O'Mariah Gordon followed, notching 15 points and two assists.
Makayla Timpson also contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and one block.
Florida State's first two quarters were led by Gordon with 10 points and capped off by a three pointer from Raiane Dos Santos, but Louisville jumped in front 44-28 in the first half.
Looking for a spark in the third quarter, the Seminoles hit four straight from the field and outscored the Cardinals 24-19.
Despite a 41-point second half with contributions from six different scorers, Florida State dropped to Louisville, 69-83.
Florida State will go on the road to face in-state rival Miami at the Watsco Center (13-10, 3-9 ACC) at 2 p.m. on the CW on Sunday.
