Seminoles Collect ACC Performer of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE– Florida State indoor track and field student-athletes Micahi Danzy, Takiyah Ferguson, Tyra Wilson, Alyia Green and Kaelyaah Liburd were named ACC Performers of the Week on Tuesday following their performances at the Jarvis Scott Invitational over the weekend.
Danzy was named the men's Rookie of the Week while the women's 4x400 relay team consisting of Ferguson, Wilson, Green and Liburd earned Women's Performer of the Week.
Danzy claimed the third-fastest time in FSU history with a lifetime performance of 46.14 in the men's 400. The Tallahassee, Fla., native concluded his first collegiate indoor regular season helping the men's 4x400-meter relay team to the seventh-fastest time in FSU history with a time of 3:07.27 for a third place finish.
"Micahi is continuing to grow and show his promise in the 400," said associate men's head coach Rick Argro. "He's going into the ACC Championships as a freshman and he is ready to compete at a high level. I am very proud of his continued growth."
The women's 4x400-meter relay team set a new school and ACC record with a winning time of 3:30.0. The Noles erased the 29-year old previous school record of 3:33.59 that was set in 1996 by Sophia Danvers, Maria Embon, Yashiva Edwards and Erica Shepard.
"The relay is something we've been trying to build here for the last few years," said Director of track and field Matt Kane. "Each of these girls have taken a leap of faith coming here, training here and working together. It's exciting to see that it has paid off with a school and ACC record. Also being ranked high in the NCAA is always nice as well."
