Timpson Named Top 10 Finalist for Katrina McClain Award

TALLAHASSEE - Florida State forward Makayla Timpson was one of the top 10 candidates for the 2025 Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award, announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame's Starting 5 committee, in collaboration with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday. 
 
The Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award, in its eighth year, recognizes the top power forwards in women's college basketball every year. It is named after one of the most decorated athletes in USA Basketball history, finishing her international career with two Olympic gold medals and one bronze, three FIBA World Championships medals, and five medals at Goodwill Games, Pan Am Games, and World University Games.
 
Timpson, leading the ACC in double-doubles, has secured 13th of the season, currently holding the program record at 44. 
 
This season, Timpson is shooting 54 percent from the floor, while averaging 17.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game. 
 
For her career, Timpson has 1,509 points and 984 rebounds in 120 games played, along with 254 blocks and 145 steals.
 
Starting on February 7, fans can vote on hopphallawards.com, and the fan vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
 
The final five candidates will be released to the public on a day-by-day basis starting the week of March 4, with voting set to follow on March 8.
 
The No. 22 Seminoles (18-4, 8-2 ACC) will face Virginia (12-11, 4-7 ACC) at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
