TALLAHASSEE- Â Florida State junior guard Ta'Niya Latson was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year on Thursday.
As the nation's leading scorer at 24.9 points per game, Latson leads the highest-scoring Power 4 offense in the country at 87.2 points per game. Â
Latson became the fastest to score 2,000 points in Florida State basketball history after posting 23 points against No. 3 Notre Dame. She became the third player in ACC history to hit 2,000 points in the first three seasons, and first since Alaina Beard of Duke (2000-04).
Â
The Miami native ranks second in program history in scoring (2,037) and holds the program record for free throws made (500).
Â
Latson scored a career-high, 40 points against Virginia Tech, tying the program record for most points scored in a game that was set by Natasha Howard (Syracuse, 2014). Â She also contributed the fourth triple double in program history in the win over Gonzaga at the Paradise Jam and has five double-doubles in her career.
Â
For the third time in her career, Latson was named All-ACC First Team and this season she was a five-time ACC Player of the Week. Last week, she was named a finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and is also a candidate for the Wooden Award.Â
