TALLAHASSEE- Florida State junior guard Ta'Niya Latson was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year on Thursday.
As the nation's leading scorer at 24.9 points per game, Latson leads the highest-scoring Power 4 offense in the country at 87.2 points per game.
Latson became the fastest to score 2,000 points in Florida State basketball history after posting 23 points against No. 3 Notre Dame. She became the third player in ACC history to hit 2,000 points in the first three seasons, and first since Alaina Beard of Duke (2000-04).
The Miami native ranks second in program history in scoring (2,037) and holds the program record for free throws made (500).
Latson scored a career-high, 40 points against Virginia Tech, tying the program record for most points scored in a game that was set by Natasha Howard (Syracuse, 2014). She also contributed the fourth triple double in program history in the win over Gonzaga at the Paradise Jam and has five double-doubles in her career.
For the third time in her career, Latson was named All-ACC First Team and this season she was a five-time ACC Player of the Week. Last week, she was named a finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and is also a candidate for the Wooden Award.
