Connel and Rusher Named To 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Team

TALLAHASSEE - Jamie Connel and Azariah Rusher were named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Tennis Team on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Connel finished his third and final season with the Seminoles following a strong senior campaign. Connel finished 25-9 with 17 wins in the spring and tallied an impressive eight wins in ACC play. The Edinburgh, Scotland, native played on Courts 1 and 2 and won seven ranked matches throughout the season.
He also finished his collegiate career with a six-match unbeaten streak and was named to the All-ACC Singles Second Team to mark a second consecutive season with an All-ACC honor. Connel has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2023 and 2024 and will graduate with his bachelor's degree in chemistry next semester.
Rusher ascended in his second season with 14 wins in singles play. The sophomore won eight matches this spring and notched two ACC singles victories. Rusher completed 10 matches on Court 6 and helped the Seminoles secure a top-10 road victory at No. 9 Texas A&M after a 7-5, 6-1 straight set victory. Rusher will return for his junior campaign next fall and will continue working on his bachelor's degree in finance.
