TALLAHASSEE – The No. 22 Florida State men's tennis team (3-0) claimed a 7-0 victory at home over the College of Charleston (0-1) on Thursday evening. The Seminoles secured the doubles point with convincing wins at the top and bottom of the order before rolling through singles.
In doubles play, Gabriele Brancatelli and Jan Sebesta gave Florida State an early edge with a 6-1 victory on court three, while No. 43 Luis Felipe Miguel and Erik Schiessl clinched the point moments later with a 6-2 win on court one. Court two with No. 82 Azariah Rusher and Mohammad Alkotop added a 6-2 win.
Florida State carried the energy into singles, where Oren Ezerzer was the first Seminole off the court, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win over Eddie Vo on court six. Brancatelli followed with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory against Juan Die Rojas Mora.
After Rusher's victory on court three (6-4, 6-3) extended the Seminole lead to 3-0, Felipe Miguel added a 6-2 decision over Leon Harder on court one to secure the win. Alkotop earned a three-set victory win over Jake Smith on court four.
On court two, No. 50 Schiessl clinched his win with a 6-0 second-set shutout before winning the tiebreaker, 16-14.
Florida State will finish out the weekend with a doubleheader Sunday against Alabama State (1 p.m.) and The Citadel (4 p.m.) at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Courts. Live stats and streaming will be available on Seminoles.com
