Seminoles’ McCray Named ACC Player of the Week for the First Time in his Career

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State senior guard Robert McCray V, who averaged 28.0 points in Seminole victories over Boston College and No. 24 Clemson last week, has been named as the ACC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. In addition to averaging 28 points McCray V shot .559 from the field (19 of 34), .467 from the 3-point line (seven of 15), and .846 from the free throw line (11 of 13). He scored 27 points in Florida State's victory over Boston College (February 17) and 29 at Clemson (February 21).
McCray V totaled his second consecutive 20+ point game against Clemson as he scored his ACC career-high of 29 points in the Seminoles' victory over the Tigers on Saturday in Littlejohn Coliseum. He scored 27 points in Florida State's victory over Boston College and 29 against Clemson. McCray V has now scored 20 or more points in six ACC games, 20 or more points in eight games as a Seminole, and in 33 career games entering Tuesday's game against Miami at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
McCray V totaled 18 second half points against Boston College and 22 second half points against Clemson as Florida State rallied for wins in both games. He shot five of nine (.556) and seven of 10 (.700) in the second halves of both games (12 of 19, .631).
He also totaled eight assists and 12 rebounds (six in each game) as Florida State upped its record to 14-13 overall and 7-7 in ACC play. The Seminoles were 0-5 in ACC played and 7-11 overall before winning seven of its last nine games.
McCray V enters Tuesday's game against Miami having scored in double-figures in 14 consecutive games (each of Florida State's 14 ACC games) and is averaging 17.7 points since totaling 11 points at North Carolina on December 30.
McCray leads the Seminoles and is ranked 15th in the ACC in scoring with his 15.7 points per game scoring average. He is also ranked fourth in the ACC in assists (5.9 apg), and in the top 20 in assist:turnover ratio (1.6:1) and field goal shooting percentage (.456).
Florida State plays host to Miami on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
